Basic Safety Awareness / Abrasive Wheels & Manual Handling – One Day Course
The aim of the course is to provide candidates with an appreciation of the hazards and risks of the workplace, such that they may appreciate their personal responsibilities for health and safety.
Course information
Key learnings
Through this course, the candidate should achieve a level of awareness of the dangers associated with a workplace, whether that is a construction site, workshop or any other place the person may be employed. This will include not only the immediate physical hazards, but also the short or long-term health hazards associated with exposure to harmful agents, such as noise, substances, radiation, vibration and others. The objective of the course will be that, through this awareness, the candidate will understand the endangerment and the means and methods by which it may be controlled to minimise both personal and corporate loss. Ultimately, the objective will be to change the attitudes and perceptions of those employed at all grades, so as to reduce the level of accident and ill health in industry.
Objectives
At the end of the course, the candidates should be able to demonstrate that they have acquired the knowledge and basic skills required to enable them to be safe at their place of work. No formal testing procedure will be carried out. However, the trainer will personally make an assessment of the candidate’s reception and response to the course material. From this assessment, he will decide whether or not the individual candidate has demonstrated the acquisition of the necessary knowledge and whether or not to award the certificate for satisfactory completion of the course.
